Yoshiyuki Miura
Born in Fukuoka in 1958, and a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Yoshiyuki Miura has not returned to his native Japan since completing his studies. A poet and philosopher, he has devoted his life to creating kinetic sculptures.
With a deliberately limited production, the artist restricts each series to only five pieces, making his works exclusive.
In the pure tradition of kinetic art, “Yoshi” is a worthy heir to Jesús-Rafael Soto. Entirely handcrafted, his colored steel needles reveal invisible forms, pyramids or ethereal spheres. Playing hide-and-seek with the viewer’s gaze, they fleetingly reveal their presence at the height of motion. Immaterial, his sculptures challenge our sense of perception.
Yoshi invites the public to question their own certainties through a playful and minimalist trompe-l’œil. A fourth dimension emerges in the imagination of each viewer. Interactive, by day or by night. Interactive, by day or by night, his sculptures radiate as if born from a magician’s trick.
